Mint Julep Cup Plain, Solid Pewter 4.25"h
The first julep cups were made in the late 1700s and early 1800s by master artisans such as Asa Blanchard of Lexington, Kentucky, and William and Archibald Cooper of Louisville. They created the classic design of the julep cup, with a sleek and simple shape, a beaded or banded rim, and a polished finish.
As a trademark of Southern Hospitality, the mint julep cup is known as a traditional southern gift. Mint Juleps are the quintessential Kentucky Derby beverage, with approximately 120,000 consumed each year.
Mint julep is an alcoholic cocktail, consisting primarily of bourbon, sugar, water, crushed or shaved ice, and fresh mint. As a bourbon-based cocktail, it is associated with the American South and the cuisine of the Southern United States in general, in particular as a symbol of the Kentucky Derby~
